Sofia Vergara sued for unpaid bills for her Beverly Hills mansion

Sofia Vergara, the highest-paid actress on television, is facing a lawsuit from a company that claims she owes them $1.7 million for renovation work on her lavish home in Los Angeles. The company alleges that the star of "Modern Family" has not paid them since March 2023, despite receiving several invoices and reminders.

A dream home turned into a nightmare

Sofia Vergara bought her Mediterranean-style mansion in 2014 for more than $20 million. The property, located in the exclusive gated community of Beverly Park, boasts seven bedrooms, thirteen bathrooms, a movie theater, a swimming pool with spa, a basketball court and a 3000 bottle wine cellar.

The actress hired a company to renovate and upgrade her home, but according to the lawsuit, she never paid them for their services. The company claims that they completed the work in accordance with the contract and that they have proof of the work done and the materials used.

A series of troubles for the actress

This is not the first time that Sofia Vergara has been involved in a legal dispute. In 2015, she was sued by her ex-fiancé, Nick Loeb, who wanted to gain custody of the frozen embryos they created when they were together. The case was dismissed in 2017, but Loeb filed another lawsuit in 2018, this time in Louisiana, where embryos are considered "juridical persons".

The actress, who is now married to actor Joe Manganiello, has also faced criticism for her appearance and her accent. Some people have accused her of undergoing cosmetic surgery and of exaggerating her Colombian accent for comedic effect. She has denied both allegations and said that she is proud of her natural beauty and her heritage.

A successful career in Hollywood

Despite the controversies, Sofia Vergara remains one of the most popular and influential celebrities in the world. She has been the highest-paid actress on television for eight consecutive years, earning $43 million in 2020, according to Forbes. She is best known for her role as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on the hit sitcom "Modern Family", which ended in 2020 after 11 seasons.

She has also starred in several movies, such as "Chef", "Hot Pursuit", "The Emoji Movie" and "Bottom of the 9th". She is the co-founder of the Latin World Entertainment, a talent management and media company, and the creator of several product lines, such as perfume, clothing, furniture and hair care. She is also a philanthropist and a UNICEF ambassador, supporting causes such as education, health and women's rights.
